Can anybody advise me regarding render beads please?

Ok guys, let me start by saying I'm not a plasterer. I am preparing my house for a K Rend/ Weber etc etc finish. My house is a non cavity construction and I have hacked off the defective sand and cement render to the brickwork. I have lined the brickwork with external thermal insulation boards and I am preparing the boards for the render guys. I am fitting the beads, mesh and mesh basecoat and the render guys are going to lay the top coat. My question is should I use 10mm or 15mm beads...

Can anybody advise me regarding render beads please?

Tyrol over OCR over tyrol

I've usually sand/cemented over tired tyrolean to make flat before going over with tyrol again but was thinking of spraying OCR instead of the s/c.

Will there be enough suction for the new tyrolean?

BBQ Render Advice on Celcon Blocks

Hi all

New to the site and have read some really valuable advice on plastering and rendering. Great Job..

I know its wrong but its done now, I have built a smoker and BBQ out of celcon blocks which will be lined with 25mm calcium silicate insulation boards to the interior followed by 25mm fire bricks.

My questions are:

How should i bond the calcium board to the inside wall.
I need to waterproof the celcon blocks but do i do both inside and externally.
How soon after laying the blocks can...

Adhesive or not

Iv to stick/fix on 12m2 of 50mm polystyrene sheets to a concrete soffit. Would I still have to apply adhesive to the sheets or would the nylon mushrooms alone do the trick. The concrete soffit is 100% flat and level. Would the adhesive be overkill ?

hi guys hope I am in the correct place if not please advice were I should post this

My question is this
I am currently in spain and I have built an extension out of steel and externally OSB board I have set everything up to do it the traditional English way
but as I am fast learning that is not always the right way due to cost and getting the correct materials

So I have noticed that the spanish plaster straight over the OSB board with a mesh impregnated in the plaster
but before they do...

mono job

been working next too a house and they have had some mono done but the beads are only 10mm does tis matter whats the implications of this obvious its been hand applied to cut down on the mixing but in all fairness the job looks quite good to be fair

We are down to redo a mono job we done last year! The job was fine until the client decided they wanted to change the windows and consequently the fitters have wrecked the job.
Money isn't an issue and they insist on mono again, not patch and paint or thincoat over the top.
Will 6mm beads dabbed on be enough to not get any problems?

Waterproofer in scratch or top

Who puts waterproofer in scratch i never have but working with another spread swears by it to control suction. I did it and all the bottom just falls off the wall surely this is because theres waterproofer in the scratch and its just sliding

Hi guys. I'm new to the forum so hello .

We have recently put a new timber extension to the side of our house.

We have used cement render boards to try and make it as lightweight as possible (white ones like aqua panels 12mm thick)

My plasterer is a bit old school and he sbr'd the surface of the board and put a base/ scratch coat of cement on and then a top coat.

Needless to say it has all fallen off as the base coat hasn't adhered to the cement board.

We are now not sure what to use...

External rendering over cement board. PLEASE HELP

not been using one that long what's your prefferd method when hand applying weber pral m used it today on some chalk do you lads use it on your first pass aswell once I've opened it it with the pad still I section aswell still ends up really flat

Rendering Machines internal?

Good Morning,

I have a damp proofing company and am looking for ways to minimise manual handling and also speed up production.

I've spoken to a couple of places about rendering machines - has anyone had experience of using them internally? How easily can you control the thickness of plaster applied so that it matches in with existing etc.?

Also, if anyone has done this, what specific machines have you used?

Roughcasting over painted stone work(advise)

Hi lads I am roughcasting over stone work that is painted shortly and am fixing metal lath to the structure before applying materials . my plan was to fix lath directly onto painted stone work and then apply base coat etc. But my mind says I should prime the walls first then fix lath to structure . Any body on here dealt with rendering this kind of building before ? Would it be fine without a coat of primer ? Any advise appreciated thanks in advance

k-rend tc15

Your thoughts please am doing a thin coat job at the mo and the customer chose light bronze TC15
primed the wall today with the same colour as the top coat and now she is not sure about the colour now.
wants it darker or in terracotta so before i ring k-rend in the morning who are very good when i ring them for specs and advice.
would it be possible to change the colour myself or am i doomed your thoughts please as its cost me a small fortune i got 3 tubs to tint if i can, fingers crossed...

not used this for a few years been using pral m instead got a small job to do over base coat but really need to scratch it back same day what's it like this weather with wickes accelerator in aswell cheers
