Hi we are a husband and wife team that want to learn and earn but using our garage as a practice session.

Garage is built with solid blocks with a cavity, gables are 5.3meters tall at the ridge and 3m at the eves and its 4m wide so a bit big for us in one go. we did a single coat in sections in a 3(buiding sand) 1 (cement) mix with some kingfisher mortar latex additive and all went well with no cracking and a hard finish, we then started to paint it but the surface is uneven so half way...

Hi Gents,
Got A job to render over painted dash which is rock solid, approx 20m2.
Was planing to use the parex parinter as base then top coat with parmurex float finish,as the customer wants to masonry paint.
Will this be a good option or should I use Parex Monogris E for top coat.
Want to stay away from S&C as find it to labour intensive.

Is K-rend a monocouche render?

Discussed with my renderer about having a monocouche render on my house and having received samples from K-rend told him I liked the silicone FT range.

He said thats fine but its not a monocouche render?

Now i'm i little confused as i thought it was.

He recommended to Weberpral M range. What's the difference in these products?

Thanks.

Alright people.

I'm starting a job soon an the builder as got silver sand an snowcrete for a white smooth finish. It's on brick. I wouldn't have went down the old silver sand route myself but he's got it ready to go. Iv used it doing dry dash but not floating up a big area. Any tips for doing this? Or is it a bad idea. Ratio would be good also? Read today 5-1-1 silver-snowcrete-lime is good. A reply would be great. Thanks

Hi all. Can I render over render?

$

Had render done on an extension about 6 months back. Render is sound but finish not acceptable as a massive cold snap hit and the lads left ripples in top coat.
Can this be rendered over and if so best methods please? I've been told Tyrolean may work well but would prefer a smoother finish if possible.
Ps I realise getting the job done in the winter wasn't smart!
Help much appreciated

How to fix new build render?

Hi there.

I was wondering if anyone would be able to offer some advice about the renderer on our new build house in Devon which be bought back in September 2015. The house is rendered with a Parex render.

There are a number of problems with the render:
1) Physical damage to the render caused during construction.
2) Staining on the render (white stains and red/brown devon mud stains).
3) Failure of the render in corners of window recess/ next to plastic window sills.
4) Localised cracking...

A bit odd

Alrite guys, I have a small timber frame to render next week, the architect told the boss to have ply, then batten, then felt, then mesh and then render which seems ridiculous not to have a solid background, they are purley relying on the tension of the mesh, anyone else heard of this??
How long do you all leave your scratch before top coating, I've known some leave a week and others top coat the next day?
Cheers guys

Render coming away from block work...

A work colleague rendered a wall about ten years ago in someone's back garden.

Recently been called back to plaster some walls internally and he asked us for take a look at the rendering from years ago...

The wall is bout 1200mm high and about 6/7 meters long. There is soil about 2/3 feet of soil behind it.

The render has shelled off the height of the wall at about 1.5/2 meters increments. And the render is still solid, just not cohering to the wall...

I assumed this would be because...

SBR mix Ratio onto 7Nm concrete blocks

Hi,

My question is can you please tell me what ratio of mix I should use for SBR when rendering concrete blockwork and also some areas where existing scratch coat is present?

BAL's date sheet has lead me to the following:

Slurry coat 1:1 cement and SBR let down with water up to 1:1:1 and brushed on.

· Whilst slurry coat is still tacky apply scratch coat (4:1) ,mixed with water/SBR mix (5litres of SBR, but this seems to much to me?). Allow this to dry.

· Render coat;...

Blockwork against I beam

Blockwork sitting on top of I beam. Iv tried filling the void with timbers at every 300-400 covering with building paper/roofing felt and covering again with riblathe. All joints crossed at least 400mm. We have tried filling the void with cement board aswell doing thin coat with mesh and topped with sand+cement but always after a few month's hairline cracks appear at the 2 ends where the I beam sits on the concrete pad and some cracks where the timbers were inserted behind the felt or...
