whats the best way to give the render the course look. Does a wet sponge bring out the sand. After rubbing it up its very smooth. Just would like the top coat to be more gritty looking after rubbing it.

Render over existing
Hi can anyone recommend a system for over skimming existing exterior rendered walls?
ie rendermesh two coat system. Got about 900m2 on a Victorian building. All been grit blasted. Cheers Guys

i was thinking of going on one of those golden trowel courses to get some practice in on the the scratch bk krend, I've already been to Ireland and i managed to get enough info to use the silicon thin coat system which I did on my own house but I know of problems occurring with scratch bk. any advice appreciated

rendered a wall with blue 10mm fibreglass mesh embedded in the render coat using a 4-1 mix with waterproofer,the cement i used was quinns which i have never used before,but anyway 2weeks later hosed wall down top coated with 4-1 and 1/4 lime using same cement,but as laying on it was bubbling as if there was air pockets all over the wall i got away with it as i was dashing but fining down the plinth was a nightmare as it pulling away from the wall when floating,just wondering was it the...

Rethulite , don't think that's how it's spelt or even if it's the correct name. Anyhow it's this stuff..

I've rendered over loads of this in the past as it's common in our area. Had no problems using s&c but client is asking for a thin coat finish. His neighbours had it done so it's what he'd like. Thoughts on process, I'm thinking get panels level with s&c. Using all that basecoat could shoot the cost up. The back is all thermalite![:sick:]( "Sick :sick:")

Last year i had a single story 12 by 4m extension built. The walls were rendered in April last year but due to problems with the patio the same builder was putting in, the render was not painted.
After a very long battle to get the patio done correctly and waiting until dryer weather we were finally getting ready to paint the wall render as well as a rendered retaining wall on the other side to the patio.
All the render on the build is chalky so I have been told to stabilise it. So...

got a silicone job to do with krend tc15 but want to make sure base coat is cock on I've only ever used it as a scratch coat for krend ft so want to know best ruling technique ie spat,serrated,speedskim thanks

I have a big problem, started scratching up exterior walls for smooth float finish render,
It seems to pull in too quickly to flatten properly, which does concern me for when we start ruling off and floating up.
I have tryed sbr on the back ground 50/50 water and sbr brushed on to substrate but not really much different.
The morter joints are lime morter and we were working in the shade so it was not the sun.
Can anyone advise me pls

Help.. what should we do to fix uneven render
We have recently had our house rendered... this is how it looks. We have had so many contradictory recommendations on how to fix it: hacking off and starting over, EML meshing and then re rendering, applying Sovereign plastplusX and re rendering over this. It has 3 coats of paint on it. Has anyone got any experience of fixing render that looks like this..

Johnson’s v Sandtex
Just finished a job, advised them to use sandtex fine texture paint they got a load of Johnson’s said it is similar, tbh I never advise anything other than sandtex is the Johnson’s just as good or similar or crap ? Would be great to know today if possible as they in two minds weather to take it back and swap
