I can say I am brave , but today was beyond a joke tbh. What was I thinking taking the machine out after -8-10’C , I have no idea. Hoses frozen, machine frozen , water float frozen , although machine drained very well..... After few hours and defrosting everything on the gene we managed to get to a point turning on the machine, then f**k**g r&s froze. Had to take another one out to get us going. Everything frozen, just by sitting there! But still, we managed to put some mesh on :). Oh well...

Hi, I’m not a plasterer so please bare with me. I am going to employ a plasterer to do the rendering job once the wall is complete. And my landscaper is building the walls.

I’m looking for a belt and braces solution to last as long as possible.

I am having some retaining and raised planters built in my garden. They are gonna be built in block and have the following structure:-

Damp proof course
Block laid sideways (to create wide wall)
Bitumen paint at soil side
Damp proof membrane on...

Weber Render multiple cracks

Hi Everyone. I have white Weber Render on my house which is 51/2 years old. The back of the house has a few cracks and some blown render. The side and front has larger cracks. One is 8ft down, moves across a foot, then down another 7 ft making it 18ft long in total. The back is full of Algae, all around the full base of the house the DPC course was wrong, the render is cracking and crumbling away. What fix would this require? Should a structural surveyor check it out for subsidence?

This as easy as it looks

Should I be worried here? Lime render

I’ve got a Victorian stone terrace, circa 1860 and built with lime mortar. The kitchen wall at the back was covered in cement render, this had many hollow patches and we had damp problems.

After spending some time dilligently doing research I decided I wanted it re-rendering with lime. Found a contractor who seemed to know his stuff and he hacked off the cement and applied a 3 coat lime render over the course of 2 weeks.

6 months on & i’m worried - it’s still damp where the wall was...

Rendering over KA tanking slurry

I have a block wall in my garden that I’m getting rendered K rend silicone. I have tanked the backside with KA tanking slurry, some of the area tanked will also be rendered, only a small amount.

I have read the following instructions, does this mean K Rend can be used ontop of the slurry? If so what needs to be done?

Cheers

Hi Guys,

Being totally transparent, I'm a time served plasterer, mostly interior, all rendering o have ever done is S&C. The truth being I try and avoid it. (Prefer skimming)

That aside, a friend has asked me to do some rendering, (k rend) basically small decorative garden walls, step risers, that sort of thing, which is the only reason I'm considering it, as they are all small sections.

My qs, I'm struggling to work out when you use what product and why.

When do you use one coat...

I have been asked to render the front of blocked up garage opening to match existing but don’t know what this render is.?
It looks like Weber therm but it’s a very coarse finish with I bar used as finish changes direction in places but as said the grain looks very big.
Properties were built about 6 years ago but can’t find out who built them and what the render product is?
Can anyone help by looking at the attached pictures.
Thanks

Hello all,
3 years ago we had our hip roofed bungalow converted to a gable end with 4 rooms in dormer. The initial builder didn't complete on budget and walked off the job but before he disappeared his plasterer dis re-plaster all internal rooms to a good standard as well as the rendering of the gable end and rear dormer. These were done as wooden frame with marine ply rather than block (don't need to discuss that on here but am wishing we'd insisted on block now).

Problem: A number of...
