K Rend or Weber

I’ve recently had a new porch built and with the walls inside the porch now being plastered (previously bare brick) it’s become apparent how bad our rendering is, as every time it rains, the new plaster is soaked from water getting in.

We’re now looking at knocking the current rendering off and redoing it.
I’ve looked online and I’m leaning more towards K Rend due to the silicone and it’s breathability. - I live very close to Blackpool seafront and currently have a thin layer of sand and...

Rendering a plinth

Hi All,

I am looking for some advice about rendering a plinth around our house. Currently there is an elevated patio/walkway that runs all the way around the house which hides around 3 courses of blockwork. This is then topped with 5 courses of bricks before the damp proof course. This is all being removed as the patio retaining wall has failed in multiple places and the whole lot is busy sinking into the fenland bog it is built on (House is fine. It sits on lots of lovely piles..)...

JOHNSTONE'S TRADE STORMSHIELD KEY COAT PRIMER

Has anyone used this and can tell me if it's similar to "Rend Aid". I need to internally sand and cement an internal wall ready for tiling but the background is mixed with a concrete lintel , engineering brick and small section of aerated blocks. Will "STORMSHIELD KEY COAT PRIMER" be OK for a scratch coat across this as it's easily available locally to me at a good price.
Any other tips for the above scenario would also be welcome.

Hi, just looking for a little advice if possible. I’m doing a loft conversion on my house in the near future and just putting costs together. The 1st floor of the house is pebble dashed and if possible I would like to finish the dormers face a cheeks the same way so it looks the same as the house. I will have this done by a proper spread etc. just after advice on, if it’s possible and the best way of doing it like cement board etc. Thanks Bricktop

Hi I just joined and was hoping for some advice. I ve built a big extension onto my house myself everthing . I can plaster ok.

I am going to have a go at dry dashing my house I need some advice on render . I was told that when your putting on render not to flatten it with down down stroke as you do when plastering as this causes it to go off quicker is that true? Also is it better to base coat everthing ie the original house as well or or just use render grip on the original house? Also...

Rendering a pond ready for fibreglass coating help

Hi everyone,
I’m helping a builder mate out on a little job.
Customer keeps koi carp and wants a nursery pond.
It’s a 3m x 1.5m x 1.2m trench, base is concrete and walls are concrete blocks, the heavy white ones.

After it’s rendered it is getting a fibre glass coating on top.
The bloke doing the fibreglass has told the builder to use fine building sand.
3:1 scratch
4:1 top coat floated finish

I think 3:1 sounds a bit strong what do you lot think?
